Evidently, St. Augustine describes some of the belief of Manichaeans, including this little detail:

The Ornament of Splendor holds the five resplendent deities by their waist and below their waist the heavens are extended. Atlas carries all on his shoulders, the Great King of Honor sits on top of the heavens and guards over all.

This link mentions that this description appears in St. Augustine's Contra Faustum, so that might be once place to start.  I'm guessing that it's an inaccurate interpretation of something he wrote there related to the detail above.

Thanks for that! As you suggest, the attribution is at best a bowdlerized paraphrase.
