  • This is a video of the restoration project of the Church where my great-grandmother was fortunate enough to have a Requiem Low Mass when she died on September 13, 1969.

While most of it is beautiful, some is rather bizarre with the Broadway Lights.

It's rather sad to me in many ways, as my father lost his faith in the 1950s and all of this was lost to me.

Because many of the Churches in New Orleans are historical landmarks they are still preserved.

My ancestors were German, but at the same time the Irish Catholics shared a neighborhood with the Germans.  They had two Churches right across the street from each other---St. Mary's Assumption, for the German speakers, and St. Alphonsus, for hte Irish.  I am not entirely sure why my great-grandma attended the Irish church.

    I'm including videos of both.

    Resoration of St. Alphonsus

    Restoration of St. Mary's Assumption

Yes, I know the faith is lost but let us please pray for a return to the True Faith and a return to beautiful magnificent churches with altars like these.

  • I think this is the proper link to St. Mary's Assumption Restoration Project.

This link is not working.  It just takes you to the bells ringing.  That's a real shame.  The Church is beautiful.
