    Leo XIV Grants Apostolic Blessing to FSSPX Chapel in Charlotte

    Pope Leo XIV granted an Apostolic Blessing to Fr John Bourbeau FSSPX and the faithful of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) at Saint Anthony of Padua Chapel in Mount Holly, North Carolina.

    The blessing commemorates the 25th anniversary of the chapel’s founding. The Vatican docuмent is dated November 18 and signed by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski.

    The chapel is in the Charlotte area. Many Catholics gather there for Mass because Bishop Michael Martin of Charlotte curtailed most celebrations of the Mass in the Roman rite in diocesan parishes. He now permits the Roman rite only in a single diocesan chapel with capacity for approximately 350 people.

    St. Anthony’s community was formed in the early 1980s and spent 19 years worshipping in various temporary locations, including a private residence, a rented floor of a bank building, and facilities of the Junior League of Charlotte.

    In 2000, community members identified a church building for sale. The first Mass in the new chapel took place on August 22, 2000.

    Due to continued growth, the FSSPX leadership recently authorized a search for new property on which to build a larger church.

    They should go "old school SSPX" and stick it in an obscure corner partially covered by a fake plant next to a 3"x5" inch portrait of "Our Holy Father Leo XIV the Supreme Vicar of Christ's Church", and pretend they are "submissive to the Roman Pontiff" because they have that little picture of him over there in the corner of the nave. :facepalm:

    Yeah, the point of my posting it was to show that the SSPX is consenting to, not resisting, the Vatican nonsense. They know they are heretics, but they ask for the heretic's blessing.

    This is just so idiotic.  I wish they would grow up already.  Martin is not your bishop, and putting his picture up in the vestibule like some kind of cuck doesn't make him your bishop.

    Martin is a heretic and apostate, and the longer SSPX continue to legitimize heresy and apostasy, the longer they become complicit in heresy and apostasy themselves.  Disgraceful.

    • And I know Father Stanich well, but am surprised by his attitude.

    When he came to our SSPX chapel, he gaslighted Resistance types from the pulpit because the Resistance were opposed to them "just talking to Rome", with a very derisive tone about it ... as if it's just about "talking", right?

    He was there at STAS during the same time period that many of the early Resistance priests were at STAS, so that's why it's surprising.  I know that some of them just keep quiet since they wouldn't know what else to do and it hasn't hit "red light" for them personally, but he's the one that I know of from that era who's vocally Ant-Resistance.

    • I decided to go through the U.S.A. SSPX chapel directory. Specifically, it was to see if any of the chapels refer to the local (diocesan) bishop. If the chapel had its own website, I linked to that. Here are the results. Please note that, while I provide a link to one specific section of a website or bulletin, I did skim through multiple pages. If I missed something, please let me know.
    Lastly, although not my priority, I did not see links to social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter), except for the official SSPX media, if there was a YouTube channel for online Mass streams, sermons, or catechism classes. If I did notice one, it is referenced.
    Conclusion: The North Carolina Mount Holly Chapel is the anomaly regarding the reference to the local diocesan bishop.
