  • Sure is, Mrs. Matthew.  The next step on your road to awakening will come when you see that the "grave reasons" and "serious motives" also fall apart on closer inspection.

At SSPX if you brought them this article they'd tell you that NFP is not wrong in itself but only being misused.  They'd blame it on Novus Ordo couples-counselling and say that these families have strayed from the path of Pius XII -- whatever that is.  I'm not sure anyone has yet explained what a "social" reason not to have children is.  That was probably a Freudian slip since what Pius XII was teaching was really socialISM.

But if there are no grave reasons to use condoms and so on, there are no grave reasons for this either.

I will be praying you and your family remove yourselves from SSPX before the flood hits.  Matthew's won my respect for letting me post here, and believe me, I genuinely am frightened for you guys.  I could also be a devil trying to lure you away from the sacraments, which is why I ask only that you KEEP RESEARCHING.  God will show you the way if you genuinely want the truth.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

Condoms are intrinsically evil.  Abstinence during fertile times is not.  This isn't hard to understand.  You're being obstinate and overselling your case.

  • No one responded to me when I asked if China's 'One Child Policy' qualified as a grave reason.

You're right, sorry.  I don't understand all the particulars of the One Child Policy, but I don't believe in the grave reason exception at all, for it implies an "ends justifies the means" theology.  If it's sinful, then it's sinful.

Yes, that is correct.  But the INTENT to engage in marital relations while blocking their natural end (procreation) renders Natural Birth Control equally sinful--with the formal motive being the same.  While Artificial Birth Control is intrinsically (both materially and formally) sinful, Natural Birth Control is extrinsically (formally) sinful.  In the end, they're both sinful.  Again, IMO.
