A Spanish Benedictine nun has left her religious community to enter politics, running for the leadership of a Catalan separatist party.
Sister Teresa Forcades—described by the ANSA news service as “pro-independence, feminist, leftist, and supporter of the rights of the poor—has opted for a year away from religious life, to run in September elections and establish a political base.
