And, given the urgency of the message, it's curious that Pius XII didn't consecrate Russia as Our Lady requested. Considering the result would be the conversion of Russia, the fear of Christian martyrs in the USSR would have paled in comparision. When Our Lady orders something to be done by 1960 why hesitate?
What does that have to do with anything? Pius XII was clearly a strong believer in Fatima, referring to himself as the Fatima Pope, where he had been consecrated on the exact day of the first apparition at Fatima, May 13, 1917. He approved it many times in many different ways. He made a half-hearted consecration of Russia buried in a relatively minor letter "Carissimis Russiae populis" in 1952, but failed to comply fully with the request. No one knows why he failed to perform the consecration, but he was indeed the Fatima pope, the one with the last chance to stop Vatican II, which is in fact what the Third Secret warned about. Perhaps someone persuaded him that he was to put it off until 1960, and there are strong suspicions that Pius XII had in fact been poisoned, ultimately to death, precisely in order to prevent this from happening. Pius XI commissioned the building of the large church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, and Pius XII raised its status to that of a major basilica. There are dozens of little ways in which the various popes approved of Fatima, and it's incredibly rash and arrogant to just reject their judgment out of hand. As I said in my previous post, the Church commissioned her brightest theological minds to study the message and all things related to it and would not have given such high-level approvals had there been any semblance of heterodoxy in the messages or with the visionaries.
