  • Are you speaking of government leaders who are heretics?  Governors, mayors, etc.?

  • I think I've read that:

    - Church "authority" no since a heretic has no authority in the Church.
    - State, government etc. authority yes so long as nothing sinful is entailed.

Well, there's the argument that a state being a secular/non-Catholic state is, in itself, intrinsically sinful.

In the context of the modern secular regimes, oh no way.  Act like you obey them only to avoid being sent to prison.

Makes think of the when the Jєωs were pushing to punish and kill Jesus. Pilates questions were answered with Truth and Jesus remained silent with the Jєω accusations.

  • I think the Bible states that we should obey government authorities since they were placed there by God. But I have a hard time believing that God would choose a heretic, or any non-Catholic for that matter, over a Catholic as a government official. It's possible that we should still obey them for moral reasons. At the same time, I can see how we might not be bound morally. When the antichrist comes would you obey him? I wouldn't.

Actually Jesus said to Pilate, "You would have no power over mewere it not given to you from above." This applies to all other legitimate secular authority.

Except when to do so would be sinful, as in offering incense to false gods or as in taking the mark of the beast.

I think this would be the best way of handling things. Also, if you can avoid heretics then avoid them. Don't subject yourself to them unless you absolutely have to.
