Matthew 24:22 "And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened."
Mark 13:20 "And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh should be saved: but, for the sake of the elect which he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days."

To me, this means that the "shortening of the days" refers to the amount of time being reduced; fewer days than would otherwise have occurred; in my opinion, until both the very end of time(“consummation of the world”) and until the Period of Peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima, when the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will take place; very soon, I hope and pray.

In that light, the Period of Peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima, as recorded by Sister Lucia in her memoirs (Third Memoir and especially the Fourth Memoir, written in the early 1940s under obedience to her Bishop), when she recounted that the Blessed Virgin Mary said, "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world," seems, in my opinion, likely to happen soon.

It also seems to me, in my opinion, that something serious is about to happen to Rome (a city reduced to ruins; Apocalypse 18:2–11, understood by the Fathers as a symbolic reference to Rome) just before the Period of Peace occurs. St. Pius X (1903-1914) "I saw one of my successors taking to flight over the bodies of his brethren. He will take refuge in disguise somewhere; and after a short retirement he will die a cruel death."

Again, I hope and pray that the Period of Peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will take place soon.
