Okay, first things first…cat news! It seems I would really be shirking my duty if I didn’t give you periodic updates on the cats. I can’t remember their names, so I just refer to them as “fat cat” and “black cat.” As with all felines they seem to have adapted to their new way of life at the rectory. Oh, believe me, they get plenty to eat and plenty of attention. They wouldn’t tolerate it any other way. Actually, they’re pretty fun little critters and like to play around a lot. Black cat likes to take me on little hunting expeditions outside—for him everything’s a game. Fat cat, who’s usually more serious, has also become much more playful… They aren’t sure what to think about all the new priests visiting the rectory these days, so they retreat into another room until all is clear.

What a wonderfully grace-filled day we had this past Wednesday as our four deacons were ordained priests forever! Fathers Thielen, Ercoli, Ahern, and Lavery came back to see the ordination. The ceremonies were run smoothly by all of our MCs, the choir and schola sang beautifully. Joe Bayer and Fr. Brueggemann installed a camera high up in one of the sanctuary windows to film the ordinations from a different angle. Most importantly, we now have four new priests who will help in the missions, absolve you from sin and offer the Sacrifice of Propitiation on altars here and abroad. Deo gratias! We have but one more big ceremony before Bishop da Silva departs. He has been quite busy since he arrived to do Bishop Dolan’s funeral Mass. This last ceremony is the episcopal consecration which will take place on Wednesday morning.
Fr. Lehtoranta took the high schoolers on a trip to Pennsylvania, leaving last Thursday after the priests’ first Masses and a school day. Father wasn’t here for the Rosary Procession; instead he did a procession with the high schoolers and parents in Pennsylvania. Now that’s how to use the imagination!
In any case, stay close to Our Lady—especially in this month of May. She’s the surest way to the Sacred Heart. Always ask, “Mother, what am I to do?”

  • FWIW,

He cannot remember the names of the cats because he is not nearly intelligent or cultured enough to know the artists/composers/etc for whom the cats are named.  I really liked Charles in our seminary days, but bright he is not.

That he speaks of them AT ALL, and even opens his comments with them is a COLOSSAL EMBARRASSMENT.

Chuck, NO ONE wants to hear about the stupid cats!

  • Why start a silly thread to criticize him over cats? I've never even been to SGG, but I'll still say why care about this?

Have you ever met a solidly red-blooded man who owns a cat?  I am not speaking of those on farms or those whose daughters are the real motive...

If you knew a damn thing about sgg.org/cult and the lengthy war that has been waged -- which you clearly do NOT -- you would readily grasp why this issue is germane.

If you've never been to sgg and know nothing of the history, why not just remain silent and observe?

  • You may be right about cats, I don't know. I do know about the scandals and grudges surrounding SGG, and it's a shame another thread has to be opened about it.

I actually think it's more embarrassing that you can't let go of what appears to be a decades ? long grudge. If SGG bothers you so much STILL, why purposefully check out the weekly bulletins?  Move on already glad.

I don't know.  I never really wanted pets but gave in to a cat that my kids have and they're really interesting creatures.  Wasn't there a saint (was it St. Philip Neri) who allowed some cats to walk around near/on the altar as a distraction because otherwise he'd go into ecstasy during Mass and the Mass would have taken hours?  St. Francis was very friendly with a lot of animals.  If I were a priest, however, unless I were prone to ecstasy and needed them for that same reason, I wouldn't keep animals around.  There's way too much work to be done for souls to spent time dealing with cats.  Even if it isn't active work, the time could be better spend praying for souls than cleaning out litter boxes.

  • I've always had cats, I have 2 right now and they're okay pets, they're not that high-maintenance compared to dogs (which we have 3). But they can be gross. I don't see how ownership of a cat determines how masculine you are. I'm indifferent to both.

Started Sept. 25 2021, under topic health reply #16,#17.  Mark79 gave me a personnel reply/advice placental cell injection, instead of hip replacement. (For my left hip, severe arthritis.  I researched on his advice and I replied on forum of what I found and I also replied to Mark79 more than once, to get placental cells, you must have a baby first and I did not like what I was reading on my searches.

Yes, after the baby is delivered the PLACENTA (NOT BABY) used to be discarded. For about the last decade it has become common to save the cord blood, membranes, Wharton's Jelly, PLACENTAL (NOT BABY) stem cells, and exosomes. Sometimes the parents cryo (ultra low temperature freeze) the tissues for the baby's use later in life. Sometimes carefully screened (medically and socially) mothers from repeat C-sections donate some or all of the tissue.

    This is your accusation verbatim:

I disagree, and gave to Mark79 links with articles saying that different stages of of a baby, such as 3 months in womb were best for harvesting and he still said it was ok!

That is a complete fabrication. I did not, do not, and never will say it is "OK" to harvest tissue from a BABY in utero, 3-months gestation or otherwise.

I only support ("say OK") harvesting PLACENTAL (NOT BABY) tissue after the baby is born from appropriate and willing donors.

As soon as you were advised of your false accusation almost 3 weeks ago, you should have retracted your accusation and apologized.

You are welcome to have a hip replacement. You are welcome to eschew a PLACENTAL (NOT BABY) injection as many do to avoid hip replacement surgery.  You are NOT welcome to falsely accuse me of approving the harvesting of BABY parts whether in utero or post-partum.

"Not liking" what you read (and misunderstand) is NOT a legitimate excuse to make a false accusation.

I recall a Fr Brueggemann that is/was with the SSPX. So this must be a relative of his? Anyone know?

Good that the ordinations could still happen in due time... and I recognize that Brueggemann surname in a lot of bulletins for St. Gertrude's.
May you all have a fruitful and prayerful Holy Week
