  • So I walked into my local Novus Ordo Church while there was first Holy Communions going on yesterday.

The priest mentioned how last week one young girl elsewhere in the diocese, tried to take a selfie while receiving Holy Communion....

Ladies and Gentelemen, welcome to the conciliar Church.

I was actually outside the Church. But are you not shocked by this?

Hopefully you meant "outside the church" ... since there's no salvation outside the Church.

You just said you went into the church and heard the priest talking.  I mean, I don't really care, I've gone into Novus Ordo churches many times if for no other reason than to see what they were up to lately.

  • I can't be surprised. There's a reason why they do this and that's because catechesis in today's Catholic Church is horrific. It's basically Lutheranism with a Mary statue, seismically imploding at the same rates, too.

  • I'm not surprised by this, I've heard all the horror stories ... I guess I'm saying more "why go to the Novus Ordo Church?" That's enough insanity to make you loose your head going there.

So long as tradition is going to have an internet influence, you have to expect conversion in non traditional lands.  The reach of the internet knows almost no bounds.  What exactly is one to do when traditional yet on ones own with no latin mass within reach?  +Williamson has not closed the door on going to the novus ordo, and home alonism is also very dangerous.  So, what does one do?  You have faith in God.  God is merciful to the widow and the fatherless.  As regards walking into the novus ordo, they are not all like in the big city with liturgical dancers.  They are not good.  But, one can suffer it.  And, it is not until you hit rock bottom, that you know which way is up.

  • The cue here is that the OP uses the words "my" local Novus Ordo parish. If ever I had any need to mention any Novus Ordo parish, I would naturally use the article "the" and not the 1st person singular possessive adjective "my". Language is so much more important than people think, hence the rejection of the Novus Ordo Missae.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

Why would you say home alonism is dangerous? What r u basing this on? You think  the novus ordo mass is acceptable? What is Bishop Williamson drinking.  If he suggests going stop listening to him at once.  That’s an order

L.A. Cardinal Roger Mahoney issued an order of exclusion to Bishop Williamso.  I don't think the order has ever been retracted.  It's too bad the Cardinal did not issue an order banning children and particularly young teenage boys from entering the Archdiocese's rectories.

Cardinal Mahony bans Bishop Williamson from L.A. archdiocese

Los Angeles, Calif., Mar 5, 2009 / 01:20 am (CNA).-

Archbishop of Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony has banned Society of St. Pius X Bishop Richard Williamson from entering any Catholic church, school or facility of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles until he retracts his remarks minimizing Jewish suffering in the Holocaust.

The announcement came in a statement published online in the March 6 edition of The Tidings, the diocesan newspaper. The cardinal authored the statement jointly with Rabbi Gary Greenebaum, the U.S. Director of Interreligious Affairs of the American Jewish Committee, and Seth Brysk, Los Angeles Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee.

Bishop Williamson was one of four bishops leading the breakaway Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) whose excommunications were lifted by Pope Benedict XVI in January.

Footage from a television interview showed the bishop denying the existence of Nazi gas chambers and claiming only 200,000 to 300,000 Jews had died at the hands of the Nazis, causing an international uproar.

The statement in the Tidings said that Bishop Williamson’s “outrageous comments” alarmed Jews and Catholics alike.

“Jews wondered whether the lifting of Williamson's excommunication suggested that anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial would be seen as acceptable positions for those within the Catholic Church,” it stated. Both Jews and Catholics questioned why the Vatican apparently had not thoroughly investigated Williamson, an unrepentant Holocaust denier and open anti-Semite, prior to the lifting of his excommunication.”

Subsequent statements from the Vatican rebuked Bishop Williamson and other Holocaust deniers and Pope Benedict reiterated the Catholic Church’s “deep respect and esteem for the Jewish people,” the statement reported.

According to the statement, Catholics and Jews were reassured by the Vatican declaration that the SSPX must fully recognize the Second Vatican Council and the legitimacy of all Popes before it may rejoin the Catholic Church.

Noting that Bishop Williamson is required to distance himself from his positions on the Holocaust in an “absolutely unequivocal and public way,” the statement said his recent comments “fall far short of satisfying the letter or the spirit of the Vatican’s directives.”

“In the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Williamson is hereby banned from entering any Catholic church, school or other facility, until he and his group comply fully and unequivocally with the Vatican's directives regarding the Holocaust,” Cardinal Mahony wrote.

He also mentioned that he will visit Israel later this year and pay his respects to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust at the Yad Vashem Memorial in Jerusalem.

“Holocaust deniers like Williamson will find no sympathetic ear or place of refuge in the Catholic Church, of which he is not --- and may never become --- a member,” the statement continued, saying that the SSPX’s rejection of the Second Vatican Council also rejects Nostra Aetate, the document which explicitly rejected the charge of deicide against the Jews and affirmed “the kinship between the Catholic and Jewish faiths.”

Noting that Nostra Aetate had been composed after close work with the American Jewish Committee, the statement then quoted the document:
“The Church, mindful of the patrimony she shares with the Jews and moved not by political reasons but by the Gospel's spiritual love, decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone.”

Saying the past two months have been “difficult” for Jews and Catholics, the statement closed:
“We can take heart that Catholic-Jewish relations in Southern California remain strong… For our part, as Catholic and Jewish leaders in Los Angeles, we recognize that only by working together with renewed vigilance will we be able to keep anti-Semitism at bay and prevent its reassertion as a legitimate expression.”

It's interesting how this canard of so-called anti-Semitism is such a big deal for certain people.
They must be afraid of something.
What Bishop Williamson said wasn't made up. He did his research.
So these reactionaries like Mahony are terrified of the truth.
When they die, they'll find out what REAL fear is all about.
    .
Selfies for First Holy Communion -- they'll let that slide.
    Clown masses -- no problem.
Promoting the sin of Sodom -- tolerance!
But anti-Semitism -- now THAT'S the unforgivable transgression!

"It is therefore dangerous, especially practiced regularly. It slowly and corrupts faith slowly but surely. It would be impossible, therefore, to attend only rarely and for grave reasons, by endeavoring to avoid all that would oblige us to make some odious concessions. " - Archbishop Lefebvre

"These new Masses not only can not be the object of an obligation for the Sunday precept, but we must apply to them the rules of moral theology and canon law which are those of supernatural prudence in relation to participation Or assistance to a perilous action for our faith or possibly sacrilege. " - Archbishop Lefebvre

"Let us immediately destroy this absurd idea: if the new Mass is valid, we can participate in it. The Church has always forbidden to attend the masses of schismatics and heretics, even if they are valid. It is evident that we can not participate in sacrilegious masses, nor in masses that place our faith in danger. " - Archbishop Lefebvre

"We do not accept this at all. To say that the new Mass is good, no! The new Mass is not good! If it was good, tomorrow we should take it, it's obvious!” - Archbishop Lefebvre

+Williamson has many great things to say, his comments on the Novus Ordo however are a blunder, and not in line with what the Archbishop held. Too many fall into the “at least its valid” trap, not taking into account the doubtful nature of ordinations and consecration of bishops, and the doubtful nature of the other sacraments. And, even were it to be valid, you expose yourself to all kinds of error and heresy, and we can just brush it all off? No, the faith is the most important thing we have and to go along to get along will lead to our ruin. Why is the SSPX a sinking ship? Because it is cozying up to the Conciliar Church and it’s Novus Ordo mentality.

“You just gotta get to Mass on Sunday, that’s where all the graces are...”
