The Sacraments
Baptism makes one a member of the Church (dogma)
Baptism washes away ALL sins (dogma)
If a Catholic dies right after receiving baptism, they go straight to heaven (dogma)
If a Catholic commits mortal sin after baptism and dies, they go to Hell (dogma)
If a Catholic commits a mortal, they can confess their sin to a priest and they can potentially go to heaven if they die. (dogma)
Baptism of Desire
Baptism of desire does not make one a member of the Church (dogma)
Baptism of desire does not wash away all sins (theological speculation of St. Thomas)
If a recipient of BOD dies right after receiving BOD, they do not straight to heaven ((theological speculation of St. Thomas)
If a recipient of BOD commits mortal sin after receiving BOD and dies, they go to Hell.
If a recipient of BOD commits a mortal, they can’t confess their sin to a priest since they don’t even know that they need to be baptized, how would they know that they need to go to confession?
Conclusion: a recipient of BOD has to remain in a state of grace (not commit a mortal sin) all of his life after receiving BOD?
