"This concern for the peripheries is the reason behind the rumor of papal trip to Erbil, Iraq: to meet Christian refugees. The upcoming encyclical on ecology – which the Pope made clear he will strive to complete in March – will certainly be filled with references to a missionary Church. Meanwhile it is also rumored that a first draft for the announcement of a Third Vatican Council is circulating, but no source has confirmed the report. However, other sources acknowledge the possibility of a papal docuмentthat would increase the limit of Cardinals voting in a conclave (i.e., Cardinals under the age of 80) from 120 to 140, thus increasing by 20 the limit that Paul VI established."
"For nothing more glorious, nothing nobler, nothing surely more honorable can be imagined than to belong to the One, Holy Catholic, Apostolic and Roman Church." -Pope Pius XII

  • Vatican III with Francis at the helm?

    God help us.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

  • Vatican II managed to screw itself over in more ways than possible. Any and all change, in a perfect world, should've ended with the 1962 Missal.

    Vatican III would be horrifying.

  • I don't know. A Vatican III might be a good thing. Maybe the fence-sitters could finally see the difference between the wheat and the chaff.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • I mean, if it brings more people to Tradition by completely buggering up the Conciliar church, I agree with you.

I don't think so.  They've been boiling the proverbial frog for so long now that the fence sitters will remain on the fence, even as the fence moves so far left that it's not Catholic anymore.

  • You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, so it doesn't really matter how many Vatican Councils these people have.

I'd welcome an explosive end to this, rather than sitting in this no-man's land with contradictory messages coming out of the Vatican every few days.

Yeah, and how about that 300-page Dossier?

  • A "Vatican III" would be the final nail in the coffin for Novus Ordo adherents having any semblance and tenuous adherence to Roman Catholicism.  A so-called "Vatican III" would be the ultimate schismatic proclamation,  which would declare the Novus Ordo Church and the Novus Ordo religion to be completely outside of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.  This would be tantamount and equivalent to the Lutheran heresy which happened 500 years ago.  Pray that this abomination never happens.

  • I don't even think a Vatican IV would be that.

The vast majority of their cult members would accept it if the pope had a husband, given a slow boil and baby steps to get them there.

Look at where we are today.  Our grandparents would not recognise Catholicism as it stands today.
