Riverrun on Modernism according to the Magisterium
« on: November 30, 2021, 02:42:58 AM »

I have some misgivings about this because can not someone be considered a modernist in a sense if he holds to any of the criteria that constitutes modernism? Even if not all of the criteria laid out by St. Pius X?

Riverrun makes a distinction between phenomenology that is aggressively atheistic and phenomenology that is indifferent, i.e. of John Paul II. Can we make any proper use of phenomenology though? Or any modern philosophy at all?

It is all the same dung in different packaging, modernism like anything else had to evolve over the 100 years since Pius X. I would not lose my time listening to that Riverrun. If you take the finest wine in the world, 99.99 fine wine, and you add a drop of strychnine, it will kill you just the same as a bottle full of strychnine. Rat poison is 99% nutritious food. Dump EVERYTHING written by JPII and Vatican II types, there is no way to separate out the poison, just like rat poison or the wine. This Riverrun character thinks he can separate it. He is a blind guide. These types want to appeal to the masses, so they are always inventing ways to fit the round peg in the square hole by sanding the square hole here and there.

I don't know how anyone can take Michael Lofton or his show seriously.  MHFM made a rather short video showcasing he can't read properly if you want to check that out.

Do you have a link?
I've already dismissed his opinions when he spent show after show trying to fit the square peg of the Essence-Energies confusion into the round hole of Catholic orthodoxy.

Edit: Essentially, Loftus equates the words "at all" to mean no exceptions.  Similar to certain Protestants who will deny the sinlessness of Mary based on Romans 3:23.
