  • I'm not sure if this is the right section, but here goes.

What do you make of this Litany:
    http://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=465

It was drawn up in 1960, so before Vatican II, but was promulgated by Antipope John XXIII. Would it be okay for someone to pray litanies such as these?

  • I would ask a good priest if he detects anything heretical here.  I do not see any problem, but there are a number of statements, prayers, etc., that Modernists say which, at first glance, look just fine but turn out to contain subtle heresy that can slowly affect a person's way of thinking.  I am not often able to detect such subtleties until they are pointed out to me.

By and large, non-liturgical actions of the Vatican in the first years of Roncalli's occupation of the Vatican seem to be doctrinally acceptable.  Unless someone can identify a specific objection to this litany, I see no problem with the private recitation of this litany as a private devotion.

  • It is said, that Pope John XXIII had a devotion to the Most Precious Blood.  Yet, it is said that one of the first feast days that was wiped off the Catholic Calendar was the Feast of the Most Precious Blood.

I am much devoted to the Precious Blood.  My Great-Great Uncle was a priest of the Precious Blood in 1907 -1944 from Carthagenia, OH, St. Charles Seminary.

So, I took it upon myself to learn all I could about the Mysteries of the Precious Blood.  www.Joyfulcatholic.com has the old original book of "Devotion to the Precious Blood", by Rev. M. F. Walz, C.Pp.S of the Precious Blood society.

In this book on page 348 is the Litany of the Precious Blood which is different.  This book has an imprimatur of 1925.

I highly recommend this book.  It explains the mysteries and beauty of the Precious blood up to page 268 from there all different devotions: a total of 585 pages.  The book is paperback, 5" X4" and an inch thick.  Can fit by your bed side or purse.

www.joyfulcatholic.com have other books of the Precious Blood.  These are reprinted but unchanged from the original. Very nice!

This sounds so familiar.  "They" say JP2 had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother, so, of course, he perverted her most Holy Rosary and never (at least in public) recited the prayer she asked for at Fatima.

St Vincent Ferrer, I think songbird has fully answered your question.
