  • I live in a rural area of New Jersey where there is mostly protestants. . the church and school closings, sɛҳuąƖ abuse etc. of vatican II has made a joke out of the catholic faith.

Now Cardinal Dolan of N Y and comedian from comedy central, Stephen Colbert makes a mockery of the catholic faith in public again.  Terry Mattingly who is not Catholic writes articles  his recent article "humor has always been a part of religious life"  was printed in the Today's Sunbeam newspaper in Salem county, New Jersey.

Here is online of same article

As Catholics we should be upset  and should be writing letters to the editor.

SSpx has been in pub lic news.  When is sspx like Bishop rostand or even bishop fellay going to respond to this.  There is a time and place for humor and also some humor is in appropiate at all...

May God bless you and keep you

  • I believe there is a time and place for everything even for jokes and humor.

When a young asks about having a calling and if he should date girls or not.  There should be a serious response from a Catholic bishop.  jokingly suggesting that he would give the young man the number of his nieces is innappropiate.  No wonder there are few new vocations within vatican II.

What your thoughts about the whole incident in general.

I read where a priest was cured because of Sacred Heart and st margaret and he asked St. Pope Pius X  for his permission to spread the Sacred Heart.  St. Pope Pius X first says 'no"...then he continues to say that he commands it be done.  I liked that.

Or the time that St Pope pius  x was on a train and he was to be bishop of mantua and he overheard conversation by these two men who called him not intelligent etc.  Then St. Pope pius X joined in with them and told them what makes a good bishop.  The funny part then they learned they were talking to himself.  That was funny.  He could have gotten angry but he chose humor and humility to correct the men.
May God bless you and keep you

    A) Father Rostand is not a "bishop."

    B) Fr. Rostand does not have any jurisdiction.

    C) Bishop Fellay does not have any jurisdiction.

    D) So what good would it do for them to "respond to this?"

Actually, Bishop Tissier de Mallerais would be more appropriate for you to
pick on than +Fellay, because he is residing in Chicago, which is a lot closer to
New Jersey than Switzerland is, where +Fellay resides.

But while residing in Chicago, +de Mallerais has no jurisdiction either. So he is not
responsible for other clerics (outside the SSPX, of course) to be making a good
    impression on TV comedy shows.

Cardinal Dolan IS THE AUTHORITY with jurisdiction in New Jersy. We're looking at
the spiritual progeny of Abp. Cushing of infalicitous memory. What do you expect?

If you complain to Rome (step up from Cardinal Dolan) you will get no reply, or,
if you do get a reply, it will be Rome giving Dolan MORE influence, somehow. His
egregious acts will be REWARDED because of your complaint.

This is Diabolical Disorientation, in action.

  • Colbert has unfortunately become an icon for Catholicism. The blasphemy in his jokes is horrific.  For the Bishop to even appear on such a show is outrageous.
~For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen, is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he hope for? But if we hope for that which we see not, we wait for it with patience. ~ Romans 8:24-25

  • I think we can add this to the already large pile of reasons for why Cardinal Dolan (and Stephen Colbert too, come to think of it) should be excommunicated.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.
