Now that’s Ratzinger is gone; Jorge feels emboldened and is ready for another crackdown. This time on the 1962 missal.
.
I keep hearing this idea, that Ratzinger was some sort of restraining influence on Bergoglio, and now that he is dead, Bergoglio is going to do something radical.
Nobody has explained why this would be the case.
Can anyone explain why or how Ratzinger would be a restraining force? What sort of influence would he exert, implicitly or explicitly, over Bergoglio? Would Bergoglio be afraid that if he pushed things too far, that Ratzinger would come out and say, "Oh, that resignation I made, I was forced to do it so it was invalid and I am really still the pope!" Or what?
