There was another theory that she was simply cloistered where she was unknown. They had lots of options to explore and could have used more than one.
You mean like “The Man in the Iron Mask”???

She was no doubt a martyr.  And what makes it worse is that a liberal Novus Ordo woman impersonated her all those years.

I believe that she was most likely murdered, though it's also possible that she just died.  I believe that Our Lady would have spared her continuing to live on without the Catholic Mass in a Novus Ordo convent somewhere.
