The Flame of Love as he describes it would it not be Candlemass. Feb. 2 always made me wonder why so much is going on that particular feast day. Below is a little about my personal thinking for interested readers.
I find it helpful to avoid unwanted distractions whenever I pray my rosary to discover what each decade has in common with the other, i.e., First mystery Annunciation, Agony in the garden, Resurrection—the emphasis on the presence of angels being there. The Fourth mystery, the Presentation, has many things going on. Consider the old law of a woman having delivered was considered unclean! Her humility and obedience! Mary complies with all ordinances. The offering of her son to His Father words from my copy of The Lives of the Saints by Rev. Butler dated 1864 — " (Jesus) He would set an example of humility, obedience, and devotion: and would renew, in a solemn and public manner, and in the temple, the oblation of Himself to His Father for the accomplishment of His will, and the redemption of man, which He had made privately in the first moment of His Incarnation."
Next, the meeting of the holy persons, Simeon, including Anne, a promise to Simeon was fulfilled. Finally, seven sorrows were foretold to Our Lady.
On blessing the candles
According to the same book above, Pope Gelasius I; in their sermons, mentions, "They walk two and two, holding in their hand's candles lighted, not from common fire, but from that which had been first blessed in the church by the priests."
Regarding the procession at Candlemass and quoting the book, "We walk while we sing to God, to denote that to stand still in the paths of virtue is to go back. The lights we bear in our hands represent the divine fire of love with which our hearts ought to be inflamed."
Getting back to my original sharing of finding things in common, the Fourth Mystery of the rosary, The Presentation meeting of Jesus by Simeon, carrying Jesus into the temple by Mary. The sorrowful fourth mystery is: Carrying of the cross, He meets His mother while He carries His cross. Glorious 4th mystery The Assumption when Jesus as He carries His Mother into Heaven body and soul, He meets her in heaven.
Obvious to me, this person is novus ordo of which I am not, but he may have some good points. Just saying!
Why not Feb. 2, it all started at the beginning (the things mentioned within my post above), why wouldn't Our Lady consider this her day?
