Prior Toupee in Sanford FL groveling for money

  • This is a regrettable but predictable situation. Prior Toupee in Sanford, FL, is now demanding the faithful in Sanford construct him a larger Church, or he may relocate the priory to Davie, FL. The issue is that the land acquired in Davie FL is not even authorized for Church use. He then claims that the High school in Sanford cannot be built because of some complications with the building or zoning. This is a chaotic scenario. We need a new Prior who prioritizes souls over Buildings. It starts at the 1:20 mark.

  • According to Bp Williamson "One soul, one diocese" - St. Francis de Sales
"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect."
"Seek first the kingdom of Heaven..."
"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment"

  • What he doesn't understand(or could care less about)  is that the faithful are not the Rothschilds.  We can't simply build Churches and schools with the income most traditional Catholics are making!

  • Davie is 4 hours away. It's halfway across Florida near Fort Lauderdale. Unless parishioners can commute 8 hours roundtrip or move to a rather expensive South Florida market, it's untenable.

  • Sanford SSPX, per the sermon linked above, will have their Confirmations next year done at the local NO church up the road, never thought that would happen

  • I should stay out of this , but having sat on Parish Councils and worked briefly as a parish finance and facilities manager (politically incorrect here I realize) I find these "administrative topics" interesting.

It is obvious that English is not Father Toupee's first language, which may affect how he presents a topic, I grew up with priests in the Spokane Diocese who were from Holland and we were familiar with the phenomena.  I listened to his sermon twice and nowhere in it did I hear a "demand" that a new church be built, but rather the acknowledgement that the chapel has grown (something everybody would be happy about I would think) and the community needs to consider the need for a larger church.  The comment about moving the priory to Davie seemed "tongue-in-cheek".  One clue I noticed was that the front pew was full ... in traditional Catholic circles that usually indicates that the rest of the church is packed, and Father mentioned people standing in the back.

Father mentioned adding a third Mass in the evening (I was pleased to see that the two morning Masses were High and Sung respectively).  I don't know how many priests are available, but under the 1917 Code of Canon Law a priest can only say one Mass per day, two on Sunday's and Holy Days, I "believe" the bishop could allow an occasional 2nd daily Mass for pastoral reasons, such as singing a Requiem Mass for a funeral.  On Christmas and All Souls they could say three Masses, as there are three distinct Masses in the missal on those days.

And Confirmations at All Souls (I notice that parish as a Latin Mass every Sunday, though it doesn't say if it is the 1962 or 1969 Missal, I would presume the former) ... if the SSPX chapel in Sanford is too small to accommodate the number of people who would attend the Confirmation and Pontifical Mass, what would those here suggest as an alternative?

I also heard that but wasn’t sure if it was a Novus Ordo church. Are you sure?

  • And I'm sure that inside the NO church, they faithful will all be expected / required to genuflect, even if they have doubts about the validity of the "Blessed Sacrament" in that church.

This is so sad.  Parents should push back and complain to US Superior.

Also, went to Mass years ago.  We thought the parishioners were really kind.  I think the pastor at the time had chickens.
May God bless you and keep you

  • Most Catholics from our area homeschool.  Home school co ops work out well.  Mass needs to be a priority.
