This sermon is well worth listening to again.
It has some excellent points about the gravity of hell. Gravity is a good word to use here because even if you try to misconstrue its connotation you won't get it wrong.
Souls fall into hell like a rock falls to earth: neither the rock nor the soul can do anything to stop the inevitable.
And also, the falling into hell is a very serious matter, the most serious matter, in fact, for anyone to consider or act upon in this short life. It is eternal consequence of temporal actions.
Fr. (Pfeiffer?) gives many examples from the saints, such as Don Bosco, just how imposing on us the reality of hell is. We are literally FOOLS not to spend some time every so often thinking about this subject.
So what do we have, in general, priests who give us this topic in sermons, like this excellent sermon available on the Internet? Generally, no. We have MSM headlines that when they mention hell, it's to quote some liberal nut case saying there's nobody in hell, it's empty, or "hell is not a place."
As Padre Pio said, that's okay, they'll suddenly believe that hell is in fact a place, and that it is far from being empty, when they go there.
