  • “And, if one day you feel called to follow the path to the priesthood or religious life, respond generously,” he told the youngsters."

  • The problem with Sedes is that they will always be perceived as unhelpful complainers, and many of them fit the perception time and time again as they do, say and think mostly malicious and contemptible things.

I have no problem with people who entertain the idea and measure things out spoonful for spoonful, but most really don't have anything to say.

  • Instead of embracing sedevacantism it probably is much more spiritual to say that if the pope says so, it's so.   :roll-laugh2:

But the pope may have said so yesterday but does the pope still say so today?

Every day you get a different answer out of BXVI.  :tinfoil:

  • Did anyone read the actual article?

I skimmed it but didn't read it.

I think it actually wasn't the pope that smiled at the altar girls.

The article is really about pushing the envelope...  ...hinting at small changes.  The clergy can all pretend to be against it and shrug their shoulders when it's "suddenly" instituted everywhere.

You won't see these changes if you just keep your shadow from ever falling on the door to a novus ordo church.

  • Ok, I'm all about respondnig forcefully to modernist/ liberal tendencies and dumb statements by the Vatican/ curia, etc. But this article commentary was ridiculous.

The pope obviously meant priesthood for the boys and religious life for the girls. He was hardly smiling on women priests since he has said it would be impossible.

We have far too much to legitimately criticize amongst the NO Church. We don't need to fabricate things to get upset about.

But these are the sorts of ambiguities which encourage them in the first place and there is also the tacit approval of women being on the altar you have to contend with as well.

  • The Pope was talking to both boys and girls, so he mentioned both possibilities.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

It would have been a whole lot clearer had he been speaking a sɛҳuąƖly undifferentiated group.
