  • Thank you for those Matthew! If we didn't keep a sense of humor about all this, we would be depressed all the time!

  • Matthew's killing me.  Good thing I had finished swallowing my coffee.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

Actually, that's impossible.  Atheism is necessarily in bad will.  No one is invincibly ignorant of the natural law, and the existence of the Creator is the most basic and intuitive fact of the natural law.
    totally correct

That was a lot of work, DominvsSabaoth, for only two up thumbs.

    Quote from: DominvsSabaoth

I was reading the Syllabus of Errors by the Greatest Pope of the past 3 centuries and read over them.  It shocks me how many errors Francis espouses.

Take a gander at error 15:

-15.  Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true. — Allocution "Maxima quidem," June 9, 1862; Damnatio "Multiplices inter," June 10, 1851.

He said atheists are saved.  HERESY

    Or, at error 18:

-18.  Protestantism is nothing more than another form of the same true Christian religion, in which form it is given to please God equally as in the Catholic Church. — Encyclical "Noscitis," Dec. 8, 1849.

Lets see where his holiness stands:

"Gregory Venables, Anglican Bishop of Argentina, said that Cardinal Bergoglio had told him very clearly that the Personal Ordinariate(s) (the branch of the Catholic Church set up for defecting Anglicans) was "quite unnecessary", and that the Catholic Church needed Anglicans as Anglicans. A spokesman for the Ordinariate said the words were those of Venables, not the Pope.[136]" (from Wikipedia)

    Or, error 16:

-16.  Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal salvation. — Encyclical "Qui pluribus," Nov. 9, 1846.

Pope Francis prays in the house of the Jєωs and heretics

    Or, error 80:

-80.  The Roman Pontiff can, and ought to, reconcile himself, and come to terms with progress, liberalism and modern civilization. —Allocution "Jamdudum cernimus," March 18, 1861.

    Huh?  Let's see:

He's without the platform and capelet

    Bergy selfies

Pope Francis venerating the hand of a saracen matriarch

    another selfie

That was a lot of research you've done.  Thank you.

    .

    Is this sarcastic?

You're wrong, poche. Give it up.

St. Peter did not do what Pope Francis is doing. The closest St. Peter came to imitating the current Pope is when he denied Our Lord three times. But Pope Francis has done -- and is doing -- much worse, and shows no signs of repentance or stopping.

Pope Francis has thoroughly betrayed his office, and is stubbornly destroying the Church and the Faith.

We are certainly competent to describe what is passing before our very eyes. Deposing the pope is another matter -- that's a little more complicated.

To use an earthy Irish saying, "Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining."

Exactly, and I have wanted to add.  Poche,  Saint Peter worshipped in the temple before the councils decrying the evil perpetrated by the wicked Jєωs.  Saint Peter, at that point, had no Christian churches

Of all your up-thumbs for the OP, half of them was mine.   Does that sound like 'sarcastic'?

I thought you might have appreciated how I introduced some bold font in your OP to make it easier to read...... No?

When I thanked you for having done "a lot of research," I was thinking, you had to read through the Syllabus of Errors looking for relevant themes.  That could take a few hours, if you count going back to recent events and jotting down the sources of the news.  It would take not only an awareness of current events and a desire to make sense of it all, but a willingness to do the hard work of investigating.

I was trying to thank you, which is why I said, "Thank you."

    What's "sarcastic" about that?

It might not be entirely correct to blame poche for all his foibles, which are legion.

The preaching of St. Peter is well docuмented, fortunately.  It's right there in black-and-white, that is, for those with eyes to see.  And his words are heard down through the centuries for those with ears to hear.

"He that readeth let him understand"
    (Matt. xxiv. 15).

But to get a clue of what's going on, you have to consider some of poche's other posts, such as the ones on "the oldest person" thread.  For in both cases (as well as most other posts by poche) the veracity of the Bible is ignored.  What the Bible says is not considered to be true by poche and other Modernists like him.

In this way, what poche writes on CI (and perhaps everywhere else) is not pleasing to God because it is entirely empty of faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God.  But then, you'd have to believe what Scripture says in order to believe that. (Cf. Heb. xi. 6)

St. Peter's preaching in the Temple was his exhortation to the Jєωs of his day to repent, be converted, and believe in the time of their visitation, God's revelation to man in the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity.  If he did any "praying," it was his appeal and pleading with those Jєωs to believe and be baptized.  For he who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who believes not will be condemned (cf. Mk. xvi. 16).  You won't see him making any excuses for the 'invincibly ignorant' or for any 'vague longing' or for those with 'implicit desire' for baptism.

    So forget it.

I say you might not be able to blame poche, because he's not thinking of this nonsense on his own.  He's reading corrupted materials from apostate sources that don't identify themselves as apostate but are all the more dangerous anyway as a result.  He reads it and he believes it and he trots over here to CI spouting it because it's all he knows.  It's all he has ever known, because he has grown up in the grand sewer of all heresies, the congeries of serpents, and that's all he knows.

It's kind of sad, really.  It's a poverty of knowledge and a desolation of insight.

And it's this kind of mindset that is the preparation in the world for the coming of the Antichrist.  And to prepare the world for the Antichrist, faith on earth must be extinguished.

"But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?" (St. Luke. xviii. 8).
