Jesus was only talking to a select few of the Jews of his time, the proud, the sanctimonious, those who look down on others. He wasn't addressing this imprecation to the poor, the humble, those who are trying to do the right thing the best way that they know how.

How is this consistent with Jesus command to love your neighbor?
