The Novus Ordo does not require hosts to be actually on the altar. In fact, there is no absolute rule as to where the hosts musts be to be "consecrated" by the "pope" during these papal maga-masses.
I remember reading an article about this in a Conciliar rag before one of John Paul 2's shows being held at Yankee Stadium in New York. Apparently, various congregations in the Vatican were debating about "how far away" the hosts could be from the altar in order to be "valid" (whatever that means to the Modernists).
The article did not say that any definitive decision was ever made, but the consensus seemed to be that whatever hosts the celebrant "had the intention to consecrate" would be consecrated. Therefore, if the celebrant is saying the Novus Ordo at the outside makeshift Cranmer's Table in St. Peter's Square and has the intention of consecrating the hosts on the side table too, then that's all that is required. Then at communion time, he can go sit down while hundreds of designated priests, deacons, and others can go pick up a bowl full of "consecrated hosts" and distribute communion to the millions of fans in attendance.
