Pope Francis: It's OK to Spank Children If It's Done With Dignity



Pope Francis is stirring up controversy with remarks that it’s OK to spank children as long as it’s done with dignity.

The pope was speaking at the Vatican this week on the importance of a good father. He recalled a conversation with a father who admitted he hit his children, but not in the face.

“How beautiful. He has a sense of dignity. He needs to punish them and he does it justly and moves on,” Pope Francis reportedly said.

A reverend who collaborates with the Vatican press office reportedly defended Pope Francis, saying, “Simply watch Pope Francis when he is with children and let the images and gestures speak for themselves.”
