  • Wow!  Anyone want to comment on this little tidbit? I guess we can now "pray" to our pooches who are in heaven (according to Francis) for our deliverance from Purgagory.  They are all in heaven, after all.

"The 77-year-old pontiff then concluded: "One day we will see our animals again in eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all God’s creatures."

Oh my goodness, I'm speechless... :confused1:

  • Is the idea so far fetched?    If God created animals in the Garden for the enjoyment of Adam and Eve, why would we not expect to see them in Paradise?

I think someone is over thinking the concept.  It's not that they die and are judged or merit heaven or hell but COULD when we reach heaven be re-animated if you will for our enjoyment.

    I'll try to find a quote from a saint I read who said something like this;
"domesticated animals that have been our companions and helpers in this life
may be with us in eternity"  I read this a long time ago so it may take a while to find it.

I think the key word here is domesticated

I hardly think Paradise will be a vacuum.  I'm personally hoping for flowers and trees and animals and birds and all the wonderful things God created and declared "GOOD"

  • Yes--all of the "no Catholic God" " no God-spray's" creatures go to Heaven except traddie bead-counters.

Just don't get hung up on any "trivial social issues"--it's all good.

Except I thought it was Catholic teaching that animals don't have souls and therefore don't go to Heaven.  Am I wrong?
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

  • I never said they had souls.  I said re-animated for lack of a better description.

Who know are cares how Almighty God would prepare a Paradise for us.

If God gave us animals BEFORE the fall of Adam and Eve why wouldn't He give them to us in Eternity.  As I said, I doubt we will be in a vacuum.!

Of course they are "good".  God created the Earth and it's creatures as a gift TO HUMANS with SOULS.  Animals are gifts to humanity, they are not nor do they have holy souls - they are an to aid in MAN's journey towards salvation. They are not "souls" in any stretch of the imagination.  Animals are created to aid us in this earthly travail.  They are not destined for heavenly redemption - only MAN is destined for this.  We, as human beings, may be predisposed to "love" our animal companions, but that is a fallen trait.  Animals are a very small means towards our redemption, nothing more.  Animals do not have souls, they are not destined for Redemption.  They are a means to and end - if that - AND NOTHING MORE.

Well, here's the thing.  Catholic teaching typically tells us what God will do.  Does it teach that animals will go to Heaven or not?
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

  • So, in other words, more heretical statements from a so-called Catholic "pope".

    Got it.

  • Wow…as the author of this thread, I am utterly SHOCKED by some of the responses to this topic!

Do those who have responded, even know their Catholic Faith?  To those who have responded, do you know even the basics of Catholic Dogma on this particular topic?

This is KINDERGARTEN / SUNDAY SCHOOL / CCD teaching, folks!

ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE SOULS AND THUS DO NOT GO TO HEAVEN.  THEY CAN NOT RECEIVE REDEMPTION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, NOR CAN THEY BE SAVED - EVER.  You will NOT see them in heaven, they are NOT your "family", they are NOT DESTINED for heaven.

Animals are GIFTS from God towards the use of OUR (HUMAN BEING'S) salvation.  NOTHING MORE.

Even the "Sisters" in my Novus Ordo grade school taught this.

Francis is thoroughly, utterly and BLASPHEMOUSLY WRONG in even suggesting such a thing!

This is NOT a Catholic teaching, never mind a Catholic PREACHING. And coming from anyone considered to be CATHOLIC is outrageous.

    THIS IS PAGANISM!

This is also the saying and teaching of a blasphemer of our Holy Faith.
God help ANY Catholic who follows or even hints at any truth to this blasphemy.

God help the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church!

As a convert who never had the benefit of being taught by nuns, I think it's a bit of a shame that there won't be animals in heaven. But if that's the teaching of the Church, then so be it.

Do animals need redemption, though, given that they never fell from grace in the first place?  After all, animals aren't sinners, are they?

  • Regardless of whether Judas Bergoglio is a true Pope or an anti-Pope, one thing is certain: He's a stupid man.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

I think he is not stupid, but rather is an evil genius who is an expert at leading souls to hell.

No I didn't know the church pronounced Dogma on this particular topic.  I was always taught Dogma were truths the Church proclaimed that we MUST believe for our salvation.
Please enlighten us all as to what the Church proclaimed on this particular topic  and when.  Thank you.
