The Holy Father wanted to underline the idea of a Pilgrimage to Truth: not in order to pray in various ways with the danger of mixing the supernatural faith and natural religions, rather a common way back to the one truth.
There is no 'common way' back to the one truth... there's only ONE way to the ONE truth: Repent, be baptized, live a life of sanctity IN CHRIST'S CHURCH. OUTSIDE of His Church, there IS NO SALVATION. THERE IS NO WAY TO FIND CHRIST WHILE PRAYING TO YOUR DEAD ANCESTORS. THERE IS NO WAY TO FIND CHRIST WHILE PRAYING TO AL--H.
If Ratzinger wants 'Assisi 3' to be anything but a rehash of the first two meetings, he'd better brush up on his Bible:
"I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME."
"...THE CHURCH OF GOD, WHICH IS THE PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH."
St. Anthony of Padua, hammer of heretics, terror of Hell, pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
