OK, guys. I am hoping that all of you here at CathInfo can help me. I have posted the same question on FE with out a single reply.
Over the last 3 years, as I have gone to my diocesan TLM, I have struggled with the status of the SSPX and whiter or not to attend their Masses and were they "schismatic'? The usual questions people have when they encounter the crisis in the church.
In the process of doing research, I read - multiple times - a letter written in 2002 by Msgr Perl, stating that yes, you could go to an SSPX Mass out of devotion to the TLM - if it was out of devotion to the TLM. Of course, he had to add the caveat that he couldn't recommend going often, because of the danger of imbibing the "schismatic mindset". Last point stated that you could give a small contribution. I am sure that any of you who struggled with the crisis read this letter at one time or another.
BTW- it was this letter that convinced me to at least give the SSPX a try. I am now going regularly to First Friday Masses every month and will see where it goes from there. :)
It was an actual scan of the letter - you could see the vatican letterhead and Msgr Perl's signature.
The letter now has disappeared from the internet. I can not find it and neither can any of my friends who have done research for me.
The reason I am looking for it is I am currently in an argument with someone over the SSPX and I know a Vatican docuмent will be the most convincing.
Someone out there must have saved a copy to their computer or something.
Please help.
Thanks.
