Here is what Paul L. Williams wrote about Siri in his book "The Vatican Exposed"

The sources for the declassified State department files are sourced at the end.

Is this guy making it up? Can't anybody who wants access these files?

In 1954 Count Della Torre, editor of the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, warned [Pope] Pius XII of [Cardinal Angelo] Roncalli's Communist sympathies. Other members of the "Black Nobility" expressed similar concerns.[5]

Nor did Roncalli [later known as "Pope John XXIII"] escape the attention of the FBI and CIA. The agencies began to accuмulate thick files on him and the questionable activities of other "progressives" within the Vatican, including Monsignor Giovanni Battista Montini (the future Paul VI).

Pius XII had appointed Cardinal Giuseppe Siri as his desired successor.[7] Siri was rabidly anti-Communist, an intransigent traditionalist in matters of church doctrine, and a skilled bureaucrat. . . .
In 1958 [on October 26], when the cardinals were locked away in the Sistine Chapel to elect a new pope, mysterious events began to unfold. On the third ballot, Siri, according to FBI sources, obtained the necessary votes and was elected as Pope Gregory XVII.[8] White smoke poured from the chimney of the chapel to inform the faithful that a new pope had been chosen. The news was announced with joy at 6 P.M. on Vatican radio. The announcer said, "The smoke is white. . . . There is absolutely no doubt. A pope has been elected."[9] . . .

But the new pope failed to appear. Question began to arise whether the smoke was white or gray. To quell such doubts, Monsignor Santaro, secretary of the Conclave of Cardinals, informed the press that the smoke, indeed, had been white and that a new pope had been elected. The waiting continued. By evening Vatican radio announced that the results remained uncertain. On October 27, 1958, the Houston Post headlined: "Cardinals Fail to elect pope in 4 Ballots: Mix-Up in Smoke Signals Cause False Reports."[10]
But the reports had been valid. On the fourth ballot, according to FBI sources, Siri again obtained the necessary votes and was elected supreme pontiff. But the French cardinals annulled the results, claiming that the election would cause widespread riots and the assassination of several prominent bishops behind the Iron Curtain.[11]
The cardinals opted to elect Cardinal Frederico Tedischini as a "transitional pope," but Tedischini was too ill to accept the position.
Finally, on the third day of balloting, Roncalli received the necessary support to become Pope John XXIII. . . .

What is Williams' credibility? who is he? who does he work for? his background?

FBI, long have they worked as front for NWO, planting evidence, infiltrating and radicalizing groups who, in turn, commit crimes,etc and then they can crack down on groups, allege widespread problems, call for crack down/solutions and in meantime, create some "america's enemies"

sooo...FBI, not always credible either.....

Somewhere, a good trad did an expose on the supposed "FBI proves Siri thesis" story going around.

again, me? will keep mind open, not seeing dots connected and no definitive proof, a lot of conjecture and a lot of internet buzz.....

for some, it "proves" the SV theory, but this is anti-intellectual---one believes something and then tries to make things fit that belief....

One must look at options, evidence and avoid blinders....

then..maybe Siri thesis is right, wrong and SV is right or wrong...

I will be more open minded to the "Siri was elected, then step down" part of it.....merely being elected doees not make one a Pope, for if Siri stepped down-for whatever reason, he still stepped down...period...Popes have resigned in the past....He was not crowned, invested, etc,etc...

If it is found he resigned due to threats, coercion,etc...then it shows that, good man he was, at this point on this topic, he showed cowardice in the face of evil....a smack against Peter and recall, Peter calmly died for the faith, after supposedly seeing his wife led off to die...

Recall, Leo XIII words:

But, when necessity compels, not those only who are invested with power of rule are bound to safeguard the integrity of faith, but, as St. Thomas maintains: "Each one is under obligation to show forth his faith, either to instruct and encourage others of the faithful, or to repel the attacks of unbelievers.''[12] To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes to believe. In both cases such mode of behaving is base and is insulting to God, and both are incompatible with the salvation of mankind. This kind of conduct is profitable only to the enemies of the faith, for nothing emboldens the wicked so greatly as the lack of courage on the part of the good. Siri will be judge by God and leave his mark for his whole life, not an event or 2, true enough...pray for him, may he rest in peace...

in meantime, more research and more actual hard evidence is needed....

It is to much regrets, that Siri should have accepted the
Election, and defied the French and other European
Cardinals in annulling his election. It was against
canon law to annul the election of an validly elected
Pope.
It would be an entirely different Church, and World
today if Siri defied the odds and accepted the papacy.
Perhaps this, and internet catholic forums would just
be teaching the faith, instead of attacking each other,
and arguing in what the church really teaches.
We knew what the church taught in 1958, and there was
no room for discussions, and arguments.
You either accept the Catholic Faith in its entirety, or
you are not a Catholic.

Siri or ABl, either would be far better men in that office and a real regret...sometimes, God allows evil to call repentance and to punish....we got the whole V2 era mess because we deserved it...as Israel of old at times was punished, including the loss of Solomon's temple...

never heard others "anulled" the election, but that Siri stepped down,etc....

this is part of the problem-conflicting stories of what really happened....what was alleged to have happened,etc...

some say he was whisked away and locked up for decades, others say he was confronted and told to step down, or did step down...

others have positid a mixture..., that alone gives pause and confusion..

The trouble in knowing the real TRUTH about the conclave
of 1958, all of the participants are now dead, and gone to
their eternal reward. I read where Pope John XX111,
Roncalli had the Cardinals and all that were involved in
the conclave take an oath of secrecy.
I never read what the penalty was if the secrecy was
revealed. However, no one talked, nor left any concrete
hints.
It will always be a speculation. Just something to keep
the bloggers busy.
