Pope Paul VI will be beatified in late October, according to reports.

The Italian news agency ANSA says the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints has recognized a supposed miracle attributed to the late Italian pontiff’s intercession. The miracle identified was the sudden healing of an unborn baby from an otherwise incurable illness.

The predicted date for the beatification is 19 October, after the close of the synod of bishops’ meeting.

Pope Francis, during the 50th Anniversary of the late Pontiff’s election, stressed three aspects of Paul VI’s papacy: “his love for Christ, for the Church and for mankind.” He said Paul VI’s testimony “feeds us the flame of love for Christ, love for the Church, and gives us the momentum to announce the Gospel to the people of today, with mercy, patience, courage, and joy.”

Paul VI, who reigned from 1963 to 1978, was praised for his efforts to seek closer ties with other Christian denominations and for his 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae which underlined the Church's opposition to artificial contraception. (D.C.L.)

  • Honestly Ambrose, if the canonizations of John XXIII and John Paul II haven't made many waves or ruffled many feathers, I doubt the beatification/canonization of Paul VI would have much if any effect.

Now the beatification of Martin Luther for the 500 anniversary of the reformation, that might cause a bit of alarm.  It would surely generate at least a half dozen threads here on CI.

edited to add beatification to the post.  I keep forgetting that Paul VI isn't yet beatified

  • If "they" were to beatify me, I would assume that meant I was in hell, considering the source.

    Just saying...

It may for some, as it will show the increasing absurdity of resisting a man that is obviously an antipope.  Antipopes need to be denounced, not resisted while calling them pope.

Many on the fence are slowly beginning to realize that Francis changed the status quo.  If Benedict had remained, many would have gone on doing what they were doing, but Francis has forever changed things by canonizing "Saint John Paul II."

This "Beatification" of soon to be "Blessed Paul VI" will only highlight the absurdity of Francis' claim to the Papacy further.

As I said to Curioustrad earlier, Francis is the biggest promoter of sedevacantism in the world.  We don't have to say anything, Francis is convincing all the Catholics that he is an enemy of the Faith and an antipope.

I haven't read the thread yet but has any anti-SV said "this will never happen yet."  In addition to being the one who did the most damage to the Church with the "council" "sacraments" and "Mass" he also was ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ and in a picture with his hand on the head of a young boy seemed to have a facial expression of enjoying an evil cheap thrill.

By all means he should be canonized.  I have said this before and I am surprised he was not canonized before JP2 and Roncalli.  I think they should get the process going with Ratzinger going now as well.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." I believe many Priests are finally outwardly accepting what inside they had to know was true.  I believe 53 priests have left or been kicked out of the SSPX since Bergolio became the head of the anti-Catholic Church because of their public SV leanings.

I believe my wife mentioned this when reading about Father Cyprian (technically not SSPX but very closely associated with them) kicking out a Priest who made some obvious public conclusions in regards to Bergolio.
