Hmm.  This could prove to be an interesting thread. It seems someone is lying.  Either the story that the tomb was found empty is a lie or this isn't his body:

Simple man mentioned the "body" could be a wax figure. Also Lone Wolf mentioned that Padre Pio may have been poisoned, so what we see here may well be a death mask used by guilty parties to cover up their crime. Also the link says that witnesses to the casket being opened and when no body was present were told to keep silent because "that is what the monks wanted." Uh huh. I agree with Yeti that Padre Pio's words "sounds like he is just saying "I don't know, it's not going to be my problem." Who had the motive? Who had the opportunity?

I don't know whether he is in his tomb or not but I recall CFN and Chiesa Viva proposing the empty tomb claim in the early 2000's. Franco Adessa makes his case here (link to pdf from Chiesa Viva):

Wow! Thank you for the great link which extends far beyond the empty tomb and gives thorough context.

No, that's not what he meant.  Read the whole article for more details.  There are also eyewitness accounts that his tomb was empty except for 3 things.
.

Well, in the context, Padre Pio's words are a response to a statement about how will we be able to contain the crowds that will come after you die? And he says, "I won't be here." Well, if you take the statement to mean that his body will be gone, then that doesn't really fit the context, since the same number of people have gone to see the mannequin or fake body of Padre Pio as would have gone to see the real one, since hardly anybody thinks that body is fake. So I don't see how such a statement would alleviate concerns about the place not being large enough to contain the number of pilgrims who would visit his body, since his supposed disappearance had no effect on the size of the crowds.

The article is a lot of second- and third-hand claims. Then there is lot of "suspicious" stuff like Cardinal Oddi dying at 91 years old, when he had been perfectly fine (?!!) before. How is a 91-year-old man "fine"?

There is another person who supposedly witnessed the empty tomb, who looks like he weighs about 300 pounds in the picture, who is also "fine", and he died at 61 years old. That is really not all that suspicious. And Fr. Pulvermacher says the tomb is empty. So what? He wasn't there when it was opened.

The article is a lot of second- and third-hand claims.
What would you expect if all the witnesses were bumped off???!!!
