Padre Pio: in his tomb, or not?

Okay, what's going on here?

He is either in his resting place, or he is not.

The common wisdom is that he is indeed there:

Moreover, there is a channel on SlingTV (the most economical full-service alternative to cable or satellite), from Italy, called "Padre Pio TV", which occasionally shows his body, or what is purported to be his body, on display behind glass.

Anybody know?

St Pio predicted that his body would NOT be left here on earth.  One of his close friends asked him (as St Pio was nearing death), "Oh, how will we ever deal with the people who will want to visit you, when you leave this earth?"  And St Pio responded, "Don't worry, after I die, I won't be here."  (paraphrasing from what I remember).

There was a lot of shenanigans and scrambling by new-rome when St Pio died.  I think his funeral was closed casket?  I think St Pio, being the only priest/saint to ever have the sigmata, and who worked countless miracles during his life, was given a great grace by God as his body was either assumed into heaven or it was incorrupt.  Either way, the modernists in new-rome wanted to cover up this miracle.

Padre Pio's funeral in 1968:

Search the phrase "Padre Pio funeral, many sources can be found.

St. Francis of Assisi had the stigmata, and there have been others recognized by the Church.

I don't know whether he is in his tomb or not but I recall CFN and Chiesa Viva proposing the empty tomb claim in the early 2000's. Franco Adessa makes his case here (link to pdf from Chiesa Viva):

.

It sounds like he is just saying "I don't know, it's not going to be my problem."
