Title: Our lady of Good help, Champion Wi
Post by: Chris Z on May 07, 2023, 07:24:56 PM
I'll start out by mentioning I did a search to learn if this has been talked about already, and I did not find much.  Please pass on any info if its been talked about previously.

I'm from Wisconsin, and I'm proud of the claim that Our Lady of Good Help (Champion, WI) is the only approved Marian apparition the the USA.  I've been to the Shrine several times, I've participated in the "Walk to Mary" pilgrimage more than once.  I'd love to own property closer to help pilgrims on their way to or from the chapel there.

Did the vision approval process change since V2?  What do I need to learn about this yet?

While V2 approvals are, by and large, worthless, it would appear that pre-V2 bishops also at least implicitly approved these revelations, including the ordinary in 1942.  From what I read of they, they seem legit, and the only message was a request to teach poor children about the faith, so I don't see what the devil or the seer would have accomplished by a fraud.  Seems legit to me.  Only problem is that they undoubtedly have the NOM being celebrated at the Shrine these days.

The fact that the N.O. being said there is not a problem with the message or the apparition, but it is a problem.  I'd guess  the N.O. is said at Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe and many others. That doesn't negate what happened there.

One of the fruits that came from the visit was to prepare the people for a heresy that was gaining traction in the area at the time by the "Old Catholic Church".  Some of the issues were the Mass in the vernacular, priestly celibacy, papal infallibility... to name a few.

It's both surprising to me that the new church approved it and that so few true Catholics know so little about it .

No, the NOM is not related to the legitimacy of the apparition but it might be relevant to whether and to what extent you might “help” the pilgrims there.
