  • [Rorate] 1. A complete translation of the SSPX theology professor Fr. Gleize's response to Mons. Ocáriz's article on the intepretation of the conciliar docuмents has been published online by The Angelus.

    2. A partial translation of the stern letter of the Bishop of Albenga-Imperia (Liguria, Italy), Mario Oliveri, ordering his priests, under pain of disobedience, to implement the motu prop

    3. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has accepted as valid the entry into full communion of a former Orthodox priest accomplished by the Superior-General of the Society of Saint Pius X (FSSPX /SSPX), Bp. Bernard Fellay. Cardinal Levada also reportedly named the priest as a domestic prelate in recognition of his former rank in the Orthodox Church. (News provided by the Polish district of the SSPX, translated by Laodicea). Rorate has been able to independently confirm this information. Archimandrite Athenagoras Bogoridi-Liven, a Bulgarian, is currently living in the monastery of Bellaigue, France, of Benedictines alligned with the SSPX.

  • The comments on the link are very good, here's one:

    The last newsbit is interesting:
    - The orthodox is now in FULL communion (as opposed to what he had before ... does this mean that the Vatican sees the Eastern Orthodox as being in PARTIAL communion? Are schismatics no longer out of communion?)
    - By the action of Bp Fellay, who is himself STILL in PARTIAL communion !!!!!

So in Vatican-speak this is what we have:
    - The schismatic Orthodox and the SSPX are both in PARTIAL communion with the Vatican (apparently)
    - A PARTIAL communion cleric can apparently lead another PARTIAL communion cleric into FULL communion.

    Clear as mud!

Or perhaps, lurking in the mud, is yet another sub-classification of partial communion. The SSPX is more partially in communion than the Eastern Orthodox, and by imparting some of that additional partial communion managed to accelerate the Eastern Orthodox trajectory into full communion sufficiently to propel the dude into full communion.

Now if only Bp Fellay can muster some partial communion buddy of his to propel him into full communion we'll be approaching a FULL COMMUNION FLUSH!

Easy to understand if you are a Levada-ite (as opposed to a a Lefebvre-ite, or is that a Lefebvre-ian)!

See what I mean about sedevacantists? They lose all touch with reality as they feverishly work to vindicate their own actions (never praying for the Pope, etc.)

This whole rant is ridiculous. They never said the Orthodox were in partial communion before -- you're completely reading that in yourself.

You can't read stuff in and then jump down their throat over words YOU put into their mouth!  Ridiculous.

    As are many sedevacantists.

  • Hey Augustine Baker --

When an article contains "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith", "SSPX" and other like terms, I think you can safely say it belongs in the Crisis subforum.
