  • I wanted all of you to see pictures of the recent CMRI ordinations.  In a recent thread, the discussion was about "conditional" ordinations of Novus Ordo presbyters.

This is a letter written in the recent issue of "Ad Sum", the official publication put out by Bishop Mark Pivarunas, CMRI on the subject.

  • Excellent.  I appreciate that Bp. Pivarunas took the time to reassure the flock as to the validity of Father Oswalt's Holy Orders.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • If Fr. Oswalt were ordained in the new priestly rite by a bishop ordained pre-1968 (for example Bishop Fulton Sheen) would Bishop Pivarunas have insisted on a conditional or absolute ordination?

  • I expect so.  I don't agree with the Bishop's basic premise, but given that premise, the actions and arguments that flow from are perfectly logical.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

He insisted on an absolute ordination, to which several people object.
