Well said, they attack and leave division....also, their reporting nad fact finding is lousy, then again, likely that is the point-to throw out accusations and charges, hoping people will not question....

sadly, a lot of "trads" read them....when they and we should ignore them.ever hear Marian Horvat in interviews? a rather incoherent and painful experience...

  • There is nothing more irritating than ignorant, superficial laymen feigning scandalization.  If you're spiritual life was where it ought to be, along with your nose, these "open letters," full of hidden and intense spiritual pride, would be unthinkable.

  • true, an example-use the search engine at TIA and when you type in Savonarola, you get on find..in it, they lable him a heretic and go no further...no proof, etc...

I would urge anyone interested in Savonarola to get Michael davies talk on him through Keep the Faith...he makes a good point that for all his faults, Savonarola was not a heretic...I noted this in a thread to Roscoe, who thought differently...noted torture confessions are NOT reliable, jack Bauer to the contrary....

Many, inc Popes Pius V and Pius X, Cardinal Caraffa, future Pope Paul IV, etc were fans of Savonarola...

yet TIA just pablems a accusation and moves on, no other thoughts on it...

just like their articles of: oppose the war=dissent and unpatriotic...

A lot of agenda and angst there, not much on facts....

I had not read of Savonarola until this post and I must say that while he wasn't a heretic, he was much more the type of Catholic I see in CM and FK than the average traditional Catholic.  Burning fine clothing and art serves no real purpose and might even be considered sinful through the intentional waste.  He is certainly not a man to be admired in my opinion.

Having said that, I have no issue at all with his book burnings.  If only we could have those back!

  • I am starting to think TIA is an americanist front group for an intelligence agency. Their divisive articles and their slavish devotion to the anti-catholic neocon war agenda seems to be proof of it. If they aren't paid agents, then they are idiot dupes.

Davies does not his penchant for self importance, but his admirers admired his push to clean the church out of its corrupt members and restore true practice....though some of art was a waste to destroy, reportedly, some of it was immoral...but the charge of heresy was denied him even by Pope Alexander VI...

I avoid TIA all together, other than to make a point using their own words/actions against them

    Hi !

I noticed that none of the questions has been answer...

Perhaps because they are rhetorical and the author has clearly already made up his mind.

Maybe it's because they are stupid questions that only barely hides profound ignorance, false premises and pride?

This site is obviously rigged.  Matthew, how is it not one person has ignored Caminus, and I have seven ignores?  He is the Fkpagnanelli of SSPX.  Almost every post he writes drips with rudeness.

I think people sign on as members to this site just to put me on ignore, so that I'll look discredited.  Who is ignoring me?  Everyone here sees my posts.
As I was a new convert when posting here, my posts are often full of error, even unwitting heresy and rash judgment, all of which I renounce, and all my writings are best avoided -- MDLS

Because you are in a minority of one here with your doctrinal views, whereas caminus clearly is in the majority (SSPX).

I agree with you on Savonarola, many other saints also attributed miracles to his intercession. However TIA's issue with him has to due with monarchy vs republic (though Savonarola's own writings favor monarchy). Other than that, TIAs views on humanism, the fall of the middle ages, and Savonarola's opponents are very similar to Savonarola's.

On another point, I'll never understand some of the Jesuit hostility to him. Its almost hypocritical and I'll explain why. Yes, some of them including non-Jesuits disliked his "usurping" of authority and I understand that. Yet, his actions were compatible with the mostly Jesuit political theory/philosophy that came out of the School of Salamanca a century later.

    Pray for me, always.
