I'm posting this here, because he COULD be speaking to some on Cathinfo, if he knew about us here.
Dear "Darkviceroy" and Others (including Brother Joseph Saraceno):
To you, and to those several men who wrote and wondered why I would ask to be taken off their email list. It is not that I do not want contact with good Catholic men seeking the Truth and the Faith. Indeed, I want that contact. It is the on-going harang and the lack of charity that I choose to avoid. The endless debate resulting from the Fideliter Interview has filled by incoming email for days. I was pleased to read, again, Archbishops Lefebvre's statement, but that was enough. I don't need fifty additional emails per day telling me what his statement and the Catholic Faith mean.
And let me respectfully offer a simple response to those who claim to be Sedevacantists: Yours is a dead end, and it is destructive to the very cause you claim to serve. Get back in the Church and join the fight to restore her influence and her glory. You don't have to do a "wrong thing" even if a member of the clergy tells you to do it. Christ gave us a perfect Church, a beautiful spirtual government; unfortunately it is composed of and operated by imperfect people.
I am not angry with or offended by you or any of the debaters who uses a little rough language. At times we have needed a little tough action, when most Catholics only complained or whined or sulked or stayed home.
Rather I am frustrated and disappointed that the debate goes on about so many things that the "Catholic issues" debaters (a) have limited comprehension in respect to the total matter, (b) can never resolve, (c) have been discussed over and over for forty years since Vatican II, (d) are approached with so much certainty by men and women with limited education and knowledge, (e) and most important, those arguments in which the debaters demonstrate little if any charity or respect.
Sometimes the debaters may be partially correct, but this only gives them more determination and more self-rightousness.
I could give you many examples, but do not want to get into such an extensive discussion at this time. The more shrill of these Trads have split chapels, initiated multiple lawsuits for control of chapels that have resulted in their closing, broken up countless families and group relationships, and, in the end, have done untold harm to the Faith. Unfortunately, some of these self-rightous hard-heads have been the clergy themselves. What normal, truth seeking person wants to be associated with such a group or church? Who would want to become a Catholic if this is what converting to the Catholic Church means. (I have seen potential converts, and many potential traditionalists, turned away by the harsh, dogmatic, condemnatory traditionalists to which I refer.)
I have spoken and written on this subject for many years, but after several decades of trying to work with these self-designated "experts," I have found that it is a hopeless cause. They do not want peace, let alone success. They want conflict and somehow enjoy it. And they glory in the wreckage that results, because that gives them justification for their efforts and makes them martyrs for the Faith.
They would rather join with a hand-full of dissenters in a rented room at a Motel 6, for mass by a priest of questionable validity and no lawful status, than participate in a beautiful Mass with one or two hundred in a lovely church or traditional chapel where some of those Catholics present might believe in the Baptism of Blood by a man who gives his life in martyrdom for Christ.
You guessed it. Some receiving this email will now judge me a heretic, and will want to debate me, claiming they represent the only true remnant of the Faith.
End of discussion.
God have mercy on his Church and all who claim to be a part of it.
Brother John
