  • These sisters (nuns) in the picture below are really sisters - and twins. Sister Mary Immaculata (left) and Sister Mary Concepta show what's new and old in nun's habit in a London meeting of Roman Catholic Organizations in 1965 - just 6 months after Vatican II ended. Sister Mary Immaculata wears an old habit of the Order of Our Lady of the Apostle while her twin displays the newer habit of the same order.

  • I remember those shoes!  Every older lady and nun wore them for years.

The loss of Nuns and the habits truly break my heart.

  • Here are Nuns attending the Requiem Mass for Cardinal Samuel Stritch in Holy Name Cathedral
Chicago, Illinois in 1958.   As you can see some have different style of habits.  Back them,
their were so many young Catholic Women abandoning the things of this world for a
life of poverty, Chasity, and obedience.
When  I attended Catholic School 1955-1962. The tuition was only $5.00 per month. And
you really learned something compared to the Public Schools.  Discipline was never a
problem. We respected Those teaching Nuns .

  • Well, one good thing is that the orders that retained the old habits are the only ones that are flourishing.
Multiculturalism exchanges honest ignorance for the illusion of truth.

  • Here are photos from 1944 of Nuns taking their Final Vows at St. Casamir's
    Motherhouse in Chicago, Illinois.
The Sisters of St.Casamir have a website, but are now very Novus Ordo.

  • No doubt the inspiration came from a spirit - not just the sprit of the age.

As a Roman Catholic that lived through the pre vatican 2, and the post
vatican 2 era.  It is my personal opinion that the events of vatican 2 was
the worse thing that ever that happened to the Church.
When Pope John opened the window of the church in October 1962.
He got more than fresh air.  Corruptions, and deceptions flowed into
the Church where it remains to this day.

  • Were those pics more of your "garage sale" goodies, RC?

I gave them a couple of thumbs-up. :applause:
St. Jude, who, disregarding the threats of the impious, courageously preached the doctrine of Christ,
    pray for us.

:geezer: I was born at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton Ontario and baptized at Saint Anne's Roman Catholic Church in 1955. One of the first post-V2 churches was built where I used to climb the trees in the school yard of my alma mater Saint Margaret Mary Elementary School.  :geezer:
