Old vs. New habit -1965

These sisters (nuns) in the picture below are really sisters - and twins. Sister Mary Immaculata (left) and Sister Mary Concepta show what's new and old in nun's habit in a London meeting of Roman Catholic Organizations in 1965 - just 6 months after Vatican II ended. Sister Mary Immaculata wears an old habit of the Order of Our Lady of the Apostle while her twin displays the newer habit of the same order.

I remember those shoes!  Every older lady and nun wore them for years.

The loss of Nuns and the habits truly break my heart.

Here are Nuns attending the Requiem Mass for Cardinal Samuel Stritch in Holy Name Cathedral
Chicago, Illinois in 1958.   As you can see some have different style of habits.  Back them,
their were so many young Catholic Women abandoning the things of this world for a
life of poverty, Chasity, and obedience.
When  I attended Catholic School 1955-1962. The tuition was only $5.00 per month. And
you really learned something compared to the Public Schools.  Discipline was never a
problem. We respected Those teaching Nuns .
