The pope doesn't fully understand how the economy works. Most regular people are struggling to get by daily and don't have any time or money to give people worse off.

In 5 years so much has changed and so much wealth was has been transferred to the super rich. Governments and central banks allowed trillions to be created to prop up a financial and monetary system that SHOULD have failed. You know, the strong best survive? Nope create money and bail out.

Instead of these companies trying to produce and create they hoarded cash and cleaned up balance sheets. Jobs, workers are a cost a liability. All that matters is a stock price rising. Rich people own stocks and GET richer simply owning them and doing nothing.

I know this pope cares more about being nice, social justice causes than saving souls. But he should get the rich to chip into his poverty campaign, most Catholics are tapped out have nothing to give.

That has been what he has been saying.

I think you are missing the point. The issue is with priorities. Who is important in the sight of God and who is important in the sight of the World. Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus? Remember the words of Jesus, "Blessed are the poor." If the World really believed this then why is it that no one wants to be poor?
Where do we find the saints? The great saints were known for their love for the poor and/or for their voluntary poverty. Ultimately they put their love of God above everything, even their possesions.

I thought it was blessed are the poor in spirit.

Are we sure Malachi wasn't on to something:  Petrus Romanus?

Francis tries to speak on social issues without any particular allegiance to Catholic doctrine. This is the impression I get from everything he does. He tries to reduce the notion of the church to the lowest common denominator, and he is making it into what he previously said that he does not want it to be come "A compassionate NGO". There is more than a hint of paradoxical hypocrisy in the words of Francis. I get the impression that francis puts into practice the phrase "let thy left hand not know what thy right hand doth" (or whatever it is).

The church can do better than this man. What is needed is drastic action and strong leadership, not pretending everything is alright and surviving only on the power of an illusion of support, because one day when the bubble bursts it will all come crashing down.
