    Edit to add :Seems all clergy who accepted it despite reservations and concern broke it.

  • Remember too, that the Modernist are not Catholic, so I suppose they don't feel it was meant for them.  That is why they are Modernist, why take an oath against what they are.

  • Yes, Vatican II did break the oath against modernism. They did away with it so they felt they'd be able to get away with being modernists.

    Pius X wrote the Oath Against Modernism, and Vatican II did away with the oath (if that tells you anything). The oath states that anyone who commits modernism is in heresy. Vatican II's changes to the Liturgy are in violation of this oath because the changes that were made were based on opinions from Protestants and freemasons.
