I always find this funny coming from people who get their sacraments from priests at what are essentially illegal chapels not recognized by the local diocese. Somewhere along the line you judged for yourself that it was time not to obey the Big Cheese - the man in white - or his local Ordinary, or to attend their Novous Ordo mass and sacraments. Why not? Who gave you the personal authority to override the local bishop and His Holiness?

I get your point, and I agree with you. My last two posts show the absurdity of this fear of using one's judgment, especially in this crisis - so not directed at you.

John Daly, in his highly recommended book, Michael Davies, An Evaluation, has great quotes from Orestes Brownson and Fr. Felix Sarda y Salvany (footnote 20), on driving away that bugbear of a false understanding of private judgment, and what erroneous private judgment truly is.

See the attachments. The second attachment completes the footnote quote from the previous page.

I think Daly's book is available in pdf on the Novus Ordo Watch website. That was how I got it.

I think one of the reasons behind the Lord's destruction of the hierarchy in the Conciliar Church is to wake up His sheep to a tendency to supine and overly docile obedience to their mediate shepherds. They belong to Him, not them. All are subject to Him first . . . and He says, "Here now (the Conciliar debacle), and don't forget it."

I personally don't think He's going to let us forget it, as the destruction of the false shepherds will be in His Hand and awaits His Second Coming.

At this point I do not understand why the argument is whether the occupant in the Vatican is a true Pope.
If all the novus ordo establishment and adherants were gathered together in one place and a bomb fell on them, would the Catholic Church disappear?

And this comes back to whole problem with these lunatics.

You cannot be expected to make that judgement as a Catholic.

I genuinely feel that most dogmatic sedes are mentally ill.

Just read some of Lazarus' posts and you can pick that up.

I think the heart of the matter may lie with the distinction between official Church acts and what we are allowed to do for our individual salvation. Where do we draw the line between obeying what we must, and not obeying what we shouldn't? Because once we start judging for ourselves when not to obey, there's the risk of placing all power of authority on the individual (what the Sedes seem to do), but of course never having the option to lawfully disobey runs the risk of falling into some sort of serious evil if the authority figure abuses their authority (what happened to the Novus Ordites).

We simply have to withdraw out of prudence.

That is all God calls us to do.

It is not our place to start making pronouncements as if we are in the Inquisition.

The absolute delusion of so many dogmatic sedes when they talk shows they really do seem to think they are possessed with that authority.
