To its credit, the reply immediately above [
#] linked to a docuмent at the Vatican [‡]:
Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff
THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Presentation [by] Piero Marini
Titular Archbishop of Martirano
Master of the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff
For a
Novus Ordo docuмent, it's certainly worth reading. But much to my exasperation, it's completely undated (is that a habit of
flaming Bugnini
modernists like him: always "progress"--
never look back?).
If the author actually held all the offices or ranks listed for him at the time the docuмent was released, and if we dare trust Wikipedia [
*], we can narrow down the docuмent's writing to a period of almost exactly 4 years:
2003--2007.
• Piero was named Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations in 1987.
• He was not Titular anything of Martirano--initially Bishop--until 14 Feb. 1998.
• He was not elevated to archbishop until 29 Sep. 2003.
• He was
de facto transferred to the presidency of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses as of 1 Oct. 2007.
We can see that he held
all offices or ranks simultaneously only 29 Sep. 2003--1 Oct. 2007. So on the assumption that the Vatican Web site doesn't edit docuмents after they're written to show
de facto promotions of their authors, we can conclude that it was completed sometime during
2003--2007. Which is a surprisingly long time after questions must've first been raised among the faithful by a new-fangled "Way of the Cross celebrated by [Pope John Paul II] at the Colosseum for the first time in
1991" [‡].

Piero, not to be confused with another Marini in a position of leadership at the Vatican:
Guido.
