This is a bit old, but Novus Ordo Watch is trying to raise fifty grand for one year to pay for their website. They have to raise so much to cover costs of having a website but they also say they have a full time employee they have to support. But they only get about two thousand visitors to their website a day. That is not a lot of people. I figured they would be a lot more popular to try and raise fifty grand. I mean there are many blogs run by one person who have no employees and get more than two thousand visitors a day.
I get annoyed when people beg for money so they can make their hobby their "full time job".
Being one's own boss, doing what you love, and working from home are all GREAT but you really have to work for it, and earn it yourself. You have to do something from home that people find valuable. And it takes a lot of time to find a lucrative niche, and then get established in that niche.
I remember in the early days of the Internet, people thought anything was possible. Literally ANYTHING. Like posting a webpage and asking for money from the whole world -- they figured a few people out of a billion would actually send in some money. With the Internet, the pool is so large, there is an almost infinite amount of variety. You could start a business that deals only in vintage pool tables, and out of a billion Net citizens, you could probably find some customers.
Posting an endless stream of Conciliar Pope silliness to a blog is hardly a way to earn a living. If you can make a huge, well-known blog of it, great. If you can place some ads and make a nice side income, great.
But most men need to expect to DO WORK or SELL SOMETHING that people need.
You can't expect "the public at large" to subsidize your own early retirement. Not everyone gets free money to play baseball or basketball, or do something else they like. That's a dream.
