Does anyone on this thread believe that John Paul II and John XXIII are saints?  Just a question....

I do not believe they are saints and I will never call them that. I also don't trust anyone who does. It is one of the reasons that I consider sedevacantism or the idea of an orthodox Pope in hiding to be possible.

Trying to "sweeten up" the evil intentions of the synod, which have already been exposed, is like putting a pretty pink bow on a dead pig.

It is a Saint Factory out there! Sadly makes a mockery out of Catholic canonizations, diminishing the importance and reverence given to the saints and trivializing the whole process of once a time a very sacred matter, worthy of utter veneration.

Obviously there have been thousands upon thousands of saints in Church history whom the Church never canonized and no one even ever knew about, humble little people in every state of life.  But the reason that the Church calls out certain ones for imitation is to promote a model of virtue, and exemplar of something in particular, something higher than ourselves to whom we can aspire.  So this notion of coming up with the most ordinary and un-noteworthy and banal examples just serves to make people complacent.  Hey, if such and such is a saint, then so am I ... all my faults notwithstanding.

What a disservice to these saintly people. It's disgusting that they will be associated with this devilish synod. Who can take canonizations from Francis seriously anyway? Given his track record it seems like an unholy sort of anti-canonization. I wish he would not canonize them, it seems sacrilegious.
