Great post. If a group of us were to start a truly traditional, orthodox newspaper or website, what do you think would be the beneficial topics or scope? It's easy to criticize the Catholic Family Newspaper as concentrating too much on secular or rome news, but maybe that's what people wanted to read? As far as speaking out against the current culture, I think sites like "Tradition in Action" or "Novus Ordo Watch" or E. Michael Jones cover that subject pretty well. As far as politics, there's plenty of non-catholic news sources on the web - a catholic site wouldn't necessarily cover politics any better (or have the resources to do it justice).
So what's left for a catholic news agency to cover? This is an honest question. If I could see a niche, i'd spend time on it.
What is it that trad catholics want to see or what do they need from a 'catholic action' group? Based on my experience at my local chapel, no one has time for catholic action, or they don't want to spend the time on it. We can barely get people to show up for a rosary march.
It seems to me that the focus on any 'catholic action' should be the basics - helping the family and educating/re-educating the young folks. The millenials desperately need help to understand the crisis in both the Church and the world, but many don't or have ignored their parent's explanations. How do you teach someone who doesn't care? If you just concentrated on existing families, how would you help them? What do they need, outside of more time and energy? These are honest questions.
