"This scandal will prove to be a crisis on the scale of the Protestant Reformation, which began just over 500 years ago — an earthquake of 9.5 on the Richter scale."

You believe they're being disingenuous? For what purpose? I'm truly curious.

They're gleeful at the thought of a mass apostasy of Catholics in favour of their Protestant heresies. They're only "concerned" about the Church so they can continue to smear Catholicism and spread their antichrist Pope lies.

Thanks. I see where you're coming from, and it certainly would be plausible (given that the Church is immersed in such scandals), that Protestants who aren't so ecuмenical, will take advantage of this crisis in order to gain for their "side". (But surely they don't think we're ignorant that this isn't also going on in their sects?)

However, I just didn't get that sense from these two authors, who genuinely seemed to have a stake in the matter, most notably in their arguments for religious liberties becoming even more under attack, due to the government needing to intervene in the "American Catholic Church". I believe it will only create a domino effect, and that's why they're concerned, if not outright alarmed.
