  • Pope Francis has been nominated for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Pontiff is among many nominees for the prize, the Reuters news service reports. The winner will be announced in October.

Among the other nominees are Edward Snowden, who exposed the extent of US government surveillance of civilians; Mussie Zerai, an Eritrean priest who has worked with African migrants in Italy; and Novaya Gazeta, a Russian newspaper that has pursued reports of corruption in the Putin government.

    ...for doing...what, exactly?

For the same thing Obama did.  Talk about "peace" a lot.  Too bad his "peace dove" got mauled by an evil-looking dark raven creature so that he had to switch to balloons.

Obama of course then went on to start more wars (aka "military actions") than Bush ever did.

  • I completely lost whatever respect I had for the Nobel Peace Prize when it was awarded to Obama.  Not because of who Obama is or what he stands for (that is a separate issue), but because he was awarded the prize a mere 9 months after taking office, without any major international accomplishments.  What's even more astounding to me is that nominations for the prize have to be made by February 1 each year, meaning that he was he was nominated for the prize, at most, only 12 days after taking office.

  • It's always been just politics and no substance.

Actually, Obama didn't even talk about peace very much.  He got the Nobel Prize for not being G.W. Bush.  Hey!  Bergoglio isn't G.W. Bush either!  I guess he's got it in the bag.

During the campaign he yammered on about ending the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war and closing Gitmo.  None of that happened before he got the prize, which was awarded to him on account of his lying campaign rhetoric.

  • I'm guessing that Francis was nominated for attempting to "make peace" with ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs.
