Father James Goins, pastor of St Thomas More University Parish in Norman, Oklahoma, prefers saying Mass towards God is not to be distracted by the bad behaviour of adults during Mass, he wrote on Twitter.com (August 23).

Goins has seen many things during Mass: a man vaping, women in beach dresses, men with hats who “almost always push back when asked to remove it.”

His highlight was a woman who wanted to share Communion with one of her dogs. When Goins rebuked her, she became so angry that she called the Oklahoma City Archdiocese’s sɛҳuąƖ Abuse Hotline saying that Goins was "mean." The priest had - no joke - to write an “Incident Report” and provide witnesses.

Goins insists, "Children are not the problem.”

  • Why would he have to  file an incident report when it was clear abuse of the hotline??

So they are handing out communion to dogs now?
May God bless you and keep you

    Why... sɛҳuąƖ... abuse...???

One consolation, at least the dog would be receiving on the tongue.  Either that, or that would be one pretty smart dog.

I wonder if the CITH 'demic police, or Susan from the Parish Council, or whomever, would be distressed to know that the dog received COTT.

We don’t even know the half of abuses going on for decades. Mary said she was holding back the hand of her Son. Why we're still here I cannot even fathom it makes me tremble in fear for myself and my children.   May God have mercy on us

While not advocating the practice, it would be less of a sacrilege to give communion to a dog, than for someone to receive It in mortal sin.

When you think of it, giving communion to an animal to be eaten, is another form of returning It to the created elements, such as happens when, for instance, regurgitated Sacred Species have to be put down a sacrarium.

And the dog, being a dumb animal without reason or an immortal soul, at least does not eat its own damnation.

The priest and the owner would, however, have something to answer for.  Again, not advocating the practice.  It is outrageous even to think about.

Nope. Even speaking allegorically, Our Lord made a pretty clear statement about this  :laugh1:

"Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you." - St. Matthew 7:6
"Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

Let me clarify.  I am not saying that it is no sin at all.  It would be a mortal sin of sacrilege for the priest administering, and for the owner who allows it.  It would be no sin for the dog, obviously, as dogs cannot sin.

Until the past 30 years or so, this subject could not have come up, not even as a wild theoretical possibility.  One's sanity could have been questioned, for even thinking or talking about it.

I question my own sanity every morning when I wake up  :clown:
