It's interesting to see what was written before B16 abdicated and before
Pope Francis was elected.
I think it more likely that he'll call himself John Paul 3.
I agree. I seriously doubt another Pius.
Didn't Pope Saint Pius X state that there would be a pope named after him -
Pope Pius XIII?
Wouldn't Pius XI and XII, who have already come, qualify?
Sorry I missed a line...
During an audience for the general chapter of the Franciscan order in 1909, the pontiff appeared to enter a trance. Those present remained motionless and silent. After a few moments, Pius opened his eyes, rose from his seat, and cried, "What I have seen is terrifying! Will I be the one, or will it be a successor? What is certain is that the Pope will leave Rome and, in leaving the Vatican, he will have to pass over the dead bodies of his priests!" He then cautioned the witnesses, "Do not tell anyone this while I am alive."
Just before his death, Pius had another vision. "I have seen one of my successors, of the same name, who was fleeing over the bodies of his brethren. He will take refuge in some hiding place; but after a brief respite, he will die a cruel death. Respect for God has disappeared from human hearts. They wish to efface even God's memory. This perversity is nothing less than the beginning of the last days of the world."
It is presumptuous to think this refers to the name the new pope takes.
What he said was, "one of my successors of the same name." That could be
Pius or it could be Sarto or it could be Giuseppe.
Joseph is German for Giusesppe in Italian. This "successor of the same name" could be Joseph Ratzinger, a.k.a.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
Sister Lucia said she saw a "bishop in white" and that it "appeared" to be
the pope. She did not say it was the pope, but she did not say it was not
the pope, either, but that it appeared to be the pope. At the time of the
vision, there had never been a Papal abdication, and there had never been
a living pope and a surviving predecessor also living, in the history of the
Church.
This image that corresponds to the Third Secret of Fatima (for it is not the
actual words of Our Lady that she spoke WHILE the 3 shepherd children
saw this vision that apparently Pope St. Pius X had just seen 4 and/or 8
years previously), foretells a bishop dressed in
white (which B16 has said
he will continue to wear), who
appears to be the pope (but might be the
Pope Emeritus, for example), climbing up a hill
passing corpses of his dead
priests along the way, and when he reaches a large cross apparently made
of corkwood (which grows in Portugal), he is killed by soldiers who shoot
bullets and arrows. Anyway, the next pope did not take Pius XIII or Peter II, but
Francis. We
don't say Francis I because there hasn't been a Francis II. Before JPII, his
predecessor was known as
"John-Paul" but that only lasted 33 days so it's
easily forgotten.
BTW what soldiers alive today shoot bullets AND arrows, other than
Mohammedans? And what has been the attitude among Mohammedans
toward B16, EVEN THOUGH he removed his shoes and dutifully stood
there in the so-called prayer posture of the self-satisfied Mohammed?
